City Gov't considering to up subway fare to $3.50

Sbase (Subterráneos de Buenos Aires), the City entity that manages the subway lines, will call for a public hearing to discuss increasing the fare to $3.50 pesos.

The increase on the fare, which currently costs $2.50 pesos, “was decided upon following an analysis of the structure of the service’s cost, affected by the country's inflation," a communiqué stated.

Nonetheless, pensioners, teachers, students and disabled people's tickets continue to be completely subsidised by the State.

Earlier this week, the Fernández de Kirchner said she considered a $3.50 pesos subway fare to be "outrageous."
