Macri snubs Libertad celebrations
The Mayor of Buenos Aires City, Mauricio Macri snubbed the celebrations held yesterday for the return of the Libertad frigate, which were hosted by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in Mar del Plata.
“We are happy that the ship has returned, that goes without saying, but I don’t know if it was appropriate to hold such a grand party using a budget that all of us Argentines have to pay for.”
“Mainly though, because of the fact that the return of the ship came amid an international scandal, where we were embargoed for having debts with the world,” Macri told reporters.
The city mayor added: “our situation with the rest of the world needs to be regulated,” as well as stating that the current state of public finance is “limiting investment.”
