Libertad awaits ceremony in Argentine waters

The Libertad frigate entered Argentine waters and is only nine kilometres away from the Mar del Plata shore, where it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, informed the Defence Ministry.

The vessel, which spent 77 days impounded at a port in Ghana, will be received in a ceremony attended by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Defence Minister Arturo Puricelli, along with other government officials.

The ARA Libertad is expected to arrive in between 2 and 5 pm on Wednesday afternoon, and Fernández de Kirchner will lead a ceremony to receive the vessel.

The navy vessel left the Ghanaian port of Tema on December 19th, and once she arrives in Mar del Plata, will have completed a 8,000 kilometres journey.
