77 people admitted to emergency rooms with fireworks injuries

Seventy seven people were admitted to emergency rooms early in the City today due to injuries received during New Year’s Eve celebration. Santa Lucía eye hospital led with 33 injured assisted.

Juan Roqués, emergency room chief of the public hospital, stressed the fact that only one person underwent surgery. There were four people injured by champagne corks, three with injuries in eye their lids and the remaining were caused by fireworks.

Meanwhile, other 24 people were assisted at the City’s Hospital del Quemado for burnt injuries, most of them caused by fireworks. Ten of the patients are underage, while the injuries of the adults are more serious.

Further twenty people were admitted in the emergency room of the Pedro Egleyzele eye hospital, emergency services shift chief Eduardo Palazolo confirmed and revealed that only three patients had to be go to surgery,
