Accident on Argentina-Chile border kills five
Five people were killed and 22 injured today after a coach and a truck collided, on the Argentine border with Chile in Mendoza province.
The tragic incident occurred at 8 am this morning at kilometer 85, in the Guardia Vieja sector of the route, before reaching the Caracoles climb on route 60.
According to early reports, the truck had problems breaking, which could have led to the driver’s loss of control of the vehicle.
The governor of the Andes, Edith Quiroz announced that the border would be closed for at least two hours, in order for the emergency services to rescue and treat the victims at the scene.
