Human trafficking law bill cleared for debate
Lower House's committees cleared the Human trafficking law bill for debate, and will discussed at the floor tomorrow. The bill has been preliminary approved by the Upper House.
Lawmakers advanced with the text of the bill during the analysis between the Penal Legislation; Family, Women, childhood and teenage; and Budget and Treasury committees.
The bill, which modifies the 2008 human trafficking law, was supported by the Victory Front bloc, the Radical Party, the Broad Progressive Front (FAP), PRO, Civic Coalition, and other opposition caucuses.
The debate preliminary approved by the Senate in 2011, returned to the spotlight after the court acquitted all the suspects in the Marita Verón case.
The bill modifies the law 26,364 about human trafficking, sanctioned in 2008. Among the amendments, it highlights severe sentences.
