'It would have been easy to prosecute all and suit society,' Tucumán judge

Alberto Piedrabuena, head of the Tucumán court that cleared all 13 defendants in the Marita Verón disappearance case, reaffirmed today that he would not be stepping down from his post any time soon and that he was “content and calm” with the decision that was made in court this week.

“We are completely convinced on our decision; otherwise it would’ve been another.

“We’d have said: ‘Everyone should be prosecuted, sent to jail to comply with what society wants,” Piedrabuena said today to a local television station.

After the court’s decision the judge added that the court has to “live with the critiques against them.”

In addition, the judge explained why there was a four hour wait on the court decision on Tuesday, putting it down to “a question of organization and security, and the fact that there were still things that needed to be discussed."
