Court rules in favour of Clarín, extends injunction in Media Law case
A Federal Court decided to extend the extend the injunction exempting Grupo Clarín from having to disinvest and sell several television and radio licenses after Friday in order to comply with the new Media Law.
The Court decided to extend the measure until the lawsuit filed by Grupo Clarín in protest of the alleged unconstitutionality of article 161 in the Media Law.
For now, the Government will not be able to force the media group’s licenses exceeding the legal amount to undergo a competitive bidding, although it could bring the case to the Supreme Court thanks to the recently passed “per saltum” law.
