Senate approves capital markets regulation bill
The Upper House of Congress approved today a government-sponsored bill to regulate capital markets by 40 votes in favour and 22 against.
The government said the bill will put an end to “self-regulation and the mutualization of the system.”
The proposal, which was signed by Cabinet Chief Juan Manuel Abal Medina, Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino and Justice Minister Julio Alak, contains 155 articles and amends law 17,811 from 1968, which regulates the public offering of negotiable securities and market traders.
