CFK calls Unasur for support against 'vulture funds'

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner said today that she would make a plea for members of the Unasur to come together in the fight against ‘vulture funds’ in the region next week, during Peruvian President Ollanta Humala’s visit at the Government House.

The Argentine president referred to next week’s Union of South American Nations (Unasur) meeting in Peru, where she is to push for member countries to unite over the issue.

“The problem that Argentina is having today regarding judicial colonialism is a problem that doesn’t just affect Argentina and the Southern Cone, but all of the countries of the developed world. Even more so those that are in crisis,” Fernández de Kirchner said.

“I think that this is worth talking about at the Unasur summit,” she furthered.

The statements were made during a short speech given by the Argentine president during a lunch at the Bicentenary Museum.

The bilateral talks held with Humala took place at midday today.

Some of the agreements signed include an education bill for both countries, over the prevention of drug consumption in schools and over school grants between the two countries.

Following the meeting with the president, Humala will visit the Congress, where at 4.30 pm he his to address lawmakers at a legislative assembly.

The meeting will be presided by vice-president Amado Boudou, who will give a welcoming speech alongside the head of the Lower House of Congress Julián Domínguez.
