Malvinas: Gov't rejects British accusations of 'maritime insecurity'

Argentine ambassador to the UK Alicia Castro.

Argentine ambassador to London Alicia Castro rejected before the International Maritime Organization (IMO) an accusation by the United Kingdom regarding maritime security in Argentine waters and the sailing of British and Malvinas Islands ships that dock in local ports.

Regarding the accusations, the diplomat assured that “the Argentine Republic has not incurred in any violation of its international commitments”

The British accusation questioned the provincial laws that ban ships used in the exploration of hydrocarbons around the islands from docking on Argentine ports. It also raised complaints over several actions by Argentina that allegedly affected their vessels’ security and operations.
