Subway unionists, Metrovías to continue wage talks on Tuesday

Subway turnstiles were left open this morning.

The Buenos Aires Labour under secretariat called for the AGTSyP breakaway Subte workers union to keep on with the talks with concessionary company Metrovías and urged not to implement measures while both parties continue negotiations.

Labour Under-Secretary Ezequiel Sabor called the AGTSyP and Metrovías for a new hearing to continue wage talks.

The request took place after the subway turnstiles were left open this morning from 8 to 10 am, thus allowing passengers to ride for free during rush hour.

The next meeting will take place next Tuesday November 27th at 10 pm.

The union, which is calling for a 28 percent wage increase, held a 10-day strike in August which paralyzed the Buenos Aires transport system. The City government announced last week that it would assume responsibility over the subway transport system as fromJanuary 1, 2013.
