Bonds plunge 13%, BA stocks fall 3.3%

Buenos Aires benchmark stock index closed down by 3.3 percent at 2,242.40 points after a US judge ruled against Argentina over the vultures funds payment case and after the Lower House yesterday approved a bill to regulate capital markets.

In a ruling the US District Judge Thomas Griesa rejected Argentina's request to maintain his previous order halting payments to holdout investors who did not participate in two bond exchanges of defaulted sovereign debt.

Growth-linked GDP warrants plunged 13 percent.

The country-risk rose 2.3 percent to 1,117 points in the JP Morgan EMBI index.
