Current state of transport and services affected by strike

The 60 line was on strike today. Most other Buenos Aires City bus lines were running as normal, but delays are expected.

The CGT Azopardo-CTA national workers’ strike led by Pablo Micheli (CTA) and Hugo Moyano (CGT) was affecting the majority of the city-province train lines, urban underground train lines and bus services today.

In Buenos Aires City, the current state of public transport was running as follows:

Trains:

The Belgrano Norte line and the Urquiza line are running as normal with some delays.

The Sarmiento, Mitre, Roca and San Martín lines are suspended.

Subway lines:

The B line is completely suspended today as workers are joining in on the strike.

The Premetro overground tram is back in service after being suspended for most of the day.

The A line is now operating with delays, after having been suspended until 8 am.

The rest of the underground lines were running with some delays, due to the excess amount of passengers travelling this morning.

Buses:

Bus lines 1, 13, 60, 93, 166, 182, 203 and 216 were on strike from early this morning. It was reported that other bus companies could join in on the strike later in the day.

Nonetheless, some bus line services were running slower than usual.

Some petrol stations were closed across the city, a measure which could further affect the running of bus services.

Air travel:

Flights out of Aeroparque were completely suspended, while international and domestic flights out of Ezeiza airport were running with delays.

LAN is reported to have cancelled all of their flights for this morning.

Roads:

Picketers lift roadblock on Panamerican Highway at the junction with Henry Ford (Campana Branch)

Illia Highway was cleared at Avenue Castillo, Ausa informed.

Roadblocks on Acceso Oeste were also lifted at the junction with Vergara close to Morón city.

The inner city roadblock in Buenos Aires on Corrientes and Callao avenues were also lifted.

A total of roadblocks throughout the whole country with more than 16 in the suburbs.

Other services affected:

Waste.

The strike affects waste-collection operation from today until Wednesday night. The City government recommended that residents avoid taking out their waste until tomorrow.

Universities. 

University professors affiliated with the CTA opposition are not giving classes at the national university faculties.

Hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes.

Affiliates of the opposition CGT union will not work today. The situation should become regular by the evening, but many establishments will be working normally.

Banks.

All private and public banks are closed. The truckers strike is stopping the transport of money. Pension payments will be carried out tomorrow.

Mail service.

All mail and courier services are closed today.

Petrol stations and Garages.

Unions affiliated with the opposition CGT will not be operating in some gas stations. Gas stations that are not part of the petroleum companies will operate normally.

Hospitals.

Public hospitals services will be minimal; Major operations and doctor appointments have been rescheduled. Medical clinics, centers, consultancies and hospitals tied with the health care companies affiliated with the CGT Azopardo will not be in service.
