World Bank: Middle class now rivals poor in Argentina
Between 2003 and 2009, the number of middle class inhabitants has been doubled in Argentina, from 9.3 million to 18.6 million, according to the World Bank.
The volume in the country has increased 25 percent between those years.
"The strong increase in Argentina is related to the recovery of the middle class after being reduced between 2001 and 2002, as a consequence of the economic crisis," World Bank's head of Latin American, economist Augusto de la Torre, said.
The country leaded the growth media of the middle class in Latin America, followed by Brazil - with a 22 percent increase, Uruguay (20 percent) and Colombia, 16 percent.
