President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner led a conference with Buenos Aires province Mayors this afternoon, in which the public works plan “Más Cerca: Más Municipio, Mejor País, Más Patria” was presented.
During the meeting the Head of State gave a televised speech in which she highlighted the positives of the $12.400 million peso plan, pushed by the Planning Ministry and spoke out to defend the policies of the Kirchnerite administration.
“We have democratized policies” and have “achieved great success in helping families” through the Asiganación Universal por Hijo child benefits scheme, the president said today.
“This plan will create around 150 million jobs, following an employment crisis that arrived to us from abroad.
She referred to the massive protests held yesterday against the government saying that "the true problem is the lack of a political leadership to represent an alternative model."
"We cannot bear the responsibility for that," she warned adding "we believe in our (model). Those who don't believe in our model, should be generating a project based on what society wants."
Fernández de Kirchner also mentioned the Argentine navy training frigate, currently impounded in Ghana, and said that Argentina “will recuperate” the frigate. “We will recuperate the ship because it is a clear violation of international law. It also hurts and moves me that there are Argentines that can thrive off of this issue or even side with the vulture funds,” the Head of State said today.
