Opposition leaders avoid march, Twitter

BA City Mayor published this photograph in his Twitter account, watching the protest.

Although many members of opposition blocs took advantage of this demonstration and had already confirmed they were going to take part of it, the main leaders were not present in the "8N" gathering points.

The situation was similar in the social networks: the pro-government bloc did not make any comment about the pot-banging protest, while the opposition made little references over the issue, as thousands of people were gathering at the Obelisk and Plaza de Mayo square, as well as in the main cities in other provinces and abroad.

Prudence reigned among the political forces. When the "8N" was summoned more than a month ago, the leaders analyzed if it was convenient to participate in it and how to capitalize the discontent of a part of the people against the Government.

Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri supported the march, but was not present in it. He did participated via Twitter, when he published a photograph in which he was watching the protest from the TV and stated "People is making its voice heard all over the country with #unasolabandera (only one flag) #8N."

Almost at the same time, city's Cabinet Chief Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Open Space Minister Diego Santilli tweeted about this issue.

The rest of the political forces did not give an opinion about the event, only the head of the Radical Party Mario Barletta referred to it via his Twitter account by saying "The political parties must be prudent, be aware and listen to the people's message."

The Kirchnerite bloc did not even referred to the 8N while thousands of people were marching towards Plaza de Mayo square.

They only official who made a comment about it was Gabriela Cerruti, who twitted "Thanks for marching and helping me reaffirm my convictions, to feel I'm part of this project, and giving me the will to continue."
