Gov't investigating causes behind mass blackout

Planning Minister Julio De Vido.

The government said today that it was investigating into the causes of the mass power cut that caused chaos across Buenos Aires City and the surrounding areas yesterday evening and that it would “apply the appropriate sanctions,” should it need to.

Planning Minister Julio De Vido said that “yesterday’s power cuts were very significant” and “cannot be ignored.”

As far as the causes are concerned, the minister underlined that “the heat wave can not be used as an excuse,” and that “a full investigation is underway.”
