De Vido warns power demand will be close to record high today
Planning Minister Julio De Vido warned “the demand for power will be close to a record high,” asking the public to monitor their use of electricity throughout today.
The government recommended that the public be ‘conscious’ and use a ‘sensible amount’ of power, as temperatures are to reach highs of 34 degrees Celsius.
De Vido held a press conference this morning alongside Public Works Secretary José López in which they detailed yesterday's events regarding the mass power cut across Buenos Aires City and said that an investigation into the causes was underway.
“Today we are still monitoring the power situation and the electricity grid,” De Vido said.
“What we need is the support of the community and for responsibility to be taken” regarding energy consumption, the minister explained during a live television broadcast.
The planning minister explained that by 8 am this morning, the electricity system had normalized and that of water, but that the public should monitor their usage.
