'Four more years' post the most retweeted in history
US President Barack Obama used the social media Twitter to celebrate his reelection right after swing state Ohio data was released in the early hours this morning.
Today, the post has received a total of 614,066 retweets and 207,426 favourites, numbers likely to keep rising throughout the day.
"Four more years," was the headline of a photograph of the Head of State hugging his wife, Michelle Obama. The tweet received at least 150,000 retweets six minutes after it appeared in the social media.
Throughout the presidential campaign, Obama's official Twitter page has seen record numbers of retweets.
Last night's post has become almost infamous as it was his most re-tweeted, with 472,000 shares in three hours, according to Twitter's politics account @gov.
It was also the most popular ever, topping a message from singer Justin Bieber, website BuzzFeed said.
