The rubbish collection in Buenos Aires City will be normalized by Thursday if CEAMSE workers do not summon a new assembly, union authorities and city government reported.

Mountains of garbage remained accumulated for the third consecutive day in the main corners of the city, as the collection trucks were able to resume the unloading of rubbish at the plants by 5pm.

"The three landfills and the transference plants were reopened a few hours ago, so the service will be resumed by tomorrow night or Thursday," a CEAMSE source said.

The conflict began last weekend, when CEAMSE workers held assemblies at the landfills of José C. Paz, González Catán and Ensenada, as the centres at Buenos Aires city neighbourhoods of Pompeya, Colegiales and Flores.
