Near-perfect Redskins Rule favors Romney

In the history if the NFL there has been an unusual occurance that has never been wrong with the exception of John Fitzgerald Kennedy due to his assassination.

Whenever a sitting President ran for re-election that has been this jinx. If the Washington Redskins played within 5 days of a national presidential election the determination of the game was the exact outcome on election night.

Every president that has run for relection and won also had the Washinton Redskins win within that time period. If the Redskins lost the President lost.

The Washington Redskins lost 21-13 at home to the Carolina Panthers this past weekend on what was their final home game before Election Day.

Since 1937, when the Redskins moved to Washington, that rule has only failed once in 18 presidential elections: In 2004, when incumbent George W. Bush won vs. John Kerry after the Redskins lost 28-14 to the Green Bay Packers.
