British tourist allegedly raped in Tilcara

A 25-year-old British tourist told police she was sexually abused while taking part in a tour in the area of Tilcara, in Jujuy province.

After the formal complaint was filed, a police committee began searching the area to try to find the abuser, who has yet to be located.

A spokesman for the provincial police said the victim reported that a man forced himself on her as she was walking along “la Garganta del Diablo” area in Tilcara, abused her and ran away.

The incident took placer near cabins and booths selling handcrafts for tourists.

The tourist is staying at a residential hotel in Tilcara, some 70 kilometres north of San Salvador de Jujuy.
