Anti, pro abortion protesters clash in Plaza de Mayo square
Protesters against and in favour of abortion clashed in front of the city Cathedral in Plaza de Mayo square. As tension mounted, the police was able to intervene and separate both groups.
Those protesters in favour of the legalization of the abortion were demonstrating in front of the National Congress and, afterwards, marched to the Plaza de Mayo square to demonstrate in front of the Cathedral.
This protest was summoned by Legal, Secure and Free Abortion Campaign, Mujeres de la Patria Latinoamericana, Libres del Sur, Movimiento MuMalá, CTA, and other left-wing groups' leaders.
This march was held to commemorate a year of the last time that this controversial issue was debated in the Lower House committees.
As this group was arriving to the square, another group was demonstrating against the legalization of the abortion, and it led to an inevitable clash.
The police managed to control the protests and the demonstrators eventually left the area.
