At least 2 dead, thousands evacuated after storm

Flooded streets in Banfield, Buenos Aires province.

The heavy showers have left two dead at Greater Buenos Aires, while thousands were evacuated mainly in Quilmes and La Matanza districts.

A woman died electrocuted in Lanús district, while a 76-year-old man drowned in the midst of the morning showers after being unable to leave his flooded house in Isidro Casanova locality.

Meanwhile, the province's Social Development Ministry reported almost 1,800 people were evacuated in Buenos Aires province after the heavy storms led to floods.

According to the official statement, 1,795 were evacuated this afternoon, 1200 of them from La Matanza, and the rest from Quilmes, Pilar, Suipacha, Las Heras, Ezeiza, Chivilcoy, Navarro, San Miguel, Hurlingham and Cañuelas.
