Students resume protests, block 9 de Julio Ave

Students gathered at the Obelisk.

Students from several high schools in Buenos Aires City blocked the intersection of the 9 de Julio Avenue with Corrientes Ave to protest over curriculum reforms backed by Education Minister Esteban Bullrich, after lifting a month-long sit-in protest.

The students of twelve schools and some of their parents blocked for two hours one of the main intersections of the city, leading to traffic chaos during peak hour.

The students decided to protest after they had announced on Tuesday that they were lifting the schools takeovers because the city government did not guarantee them that the reforms are going to be applied in 2014.
