Foreign tourism drops 5.2% in August

The amount of tourists that arrived in Argentina during August increased 5.2 percent compared to the same month of 2011 and totalled 200,904 people, according to a government report.
The Indec national statistics bureau said that the expense of tourists was of 219.4 million dollars, 19.2 percent lower than the volume registered the same month in 2011.
During this month, 185,568 Argentine citizens travelled abroad, a 5.1 percent higher than the figures reported on February 2010.
The total expense of Argentine citizens abroad fell 1.1 percent to 236.2 million dollars.
The information is gathered from the arrivals and departures at Ezeiza and Jorge Newbery airports, which are the main routes of access route to Argentina.
