Dissident blogger Yoani Sanchez detained in Cuba

Prominent dissident blogger Yoani Sanchez, a Buenos Aires Herald contributor, has been arrested along with her husband Reinaldo Escobar, in the city of Bayamo, Cuba, a website with close ties to Cuban government reported today.

"The pro-US blogger Yoani Sanchez was arrested today in the city of Bayamo, where she had travelled with the intention to provoke the government and create a media show" at the trial of Spanish activist Angel Caromero, according to the website http://www.yohandry.com.

Caromero, a political activist, was involved in a car crash that killed prominent Cuban dissident Oswaldo Paya goes on trial today.

Paya, along with another dissident, Harold Cepero, died when the Spaniard lost control of the small rental car he was driving and smashed into a tree near the city of Bayamo.
