'Infancia clandestina' Argentina's choice for Oscar running
The Academy for Cinematography Science and Art elected today Benjamín Avila's film “Infancia Clandestina” to represent Argentina aspiring to compete for a place in the Best Foreign Film category at the next Academy Awards in February 2013.
The film won with 19 votes, one vote, over 'El último Elvis' which won 18 nods.
The film beat other popular Argentine movies such as "Elefante Blanco,"starring renowned actor Ricardo Darin, emotional “Las Acacias,” Viggo Mortensen’s “Todos tenemos un plan,” amongst others.
Set in 1979 Argentina and based on a true story, Avila's movie circulates on a boy’s journey being the son of Argentine dictatorship rebels -known as 'Montoneros'- during the 1979-1983 years of military rule.
The poll was held at San Martin Cultural Centre in Buenos Aires City this morning.
