‘Shining’ sequel to be released in 2013
Jack Nicholson starred in the movie version of Stephen King''s "The Shining"
Stephen King announced today a release date for the famed book’s sequel, Doctor Sleep, in which a grownup Danny Torrance is haunted by the same demons from Overlook Hotel.
The new book has Danny working at a nursing home in a New Hampshire town and using his psychic “shining” powers to comfort those at death’s door.
He also fights a tribe of quasi-immortals called The True Knot, but only with the help of a 12-year-old girl who possesses “the brightest shining ever seen,” according to King’s website, which calls the sequel “an epic battle between good and evil.”
Doctor Sleep will be released on Sept. 24, 2013—exactly 36 years after King released the original.
