Gov't tightens security measures on BA train stations

The government said today it would dispatch 400 Border Guards on Saturday to train stations up and down the Mitre and Sarmiento lines in order to ´improve security´.

Interior and Transport Minister Florencio Randazzo held a press conference this afternoon in which he detailed the government’s new security plans, to be applied on Mitre and Sarmiento line train stations that have the most crime and insecurity issues.

Randazzo explained that the government was to “send four hundred Border Guards" to the stations that "need the most attention," with regard to passenger safety.

“From 8 am tomorrow morning, 400 guards will be send to man stations along the Sarmiento and Mitre lines, taking the place of the Federal Police and Buenos Aires province police” the government official said.

“We are duplicating the quantity of officers currently patrolling the stations,” Randazzo added.

The press conference was held today at the Government House.
