Government puts creation of audiovisual centre in motion
The government put in motion today the creation of the new audiovisual centre on Demarchi Island, by ordering by decree that the land be cleared and a derelict building designated for the project be evacuated for future use.
The order states that a warehouse building, which used to be in the hands of the Director for Port Construction and Naval Routes (which pertains to the Federal Planning Ministry), located along Benjamín Lavoisse street 1235 close to Puerto Madero, be emptied for use.
In terms of financial planning for the island, the ANSeS social security agency has been declared legal administrator of funds toward the new project.
Besides the ongoing rift between the two governments, the decree signed today also mentioned an invite for the City Government to participate in the Evaluation Committee meeting in which the initial plans for the project will be made.
The invitation was put down in article six of Decree 1722/2012 published today in the Official Gazette.
Last Thursday, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced the signing of the decree that “will allow tenders to be issued from October 1” for the audiovisual centre, “in order for the land on Demarchi Island to be taken full advantage of.”
