Road to World Cup: Peru fans stone Argentina team's bus
On the verge of tonight qualifier between hosts Peru and Argentina, the torrid environment can already be perceived. A good –or bad, very bad- example is that of Peruvians fans stoning the bus that was waiting for taking the Argentine players back to their hotel after their practice at the National Stadium.
As a result several windows were cracked and broken. Fortunately, no one in the Argentine delegation was injured.
Minutes later the team arrived to the hotel where dozens of Peruvian fans were waiting with drums and horns in an attempt to camp for the night and disturb the rest of Alejandro Sabella and his players. But local police responded promptly and evacuated all fans from the area.
Argentina will look to consolidate top place in FIFA World Cup qualifying following Friday's 3-1 home victory over Paraguay in CONMEBOL division.
Sabella's side top the South American section of qualifying on 13 points from six matches, one clear of Chile and Ecuador.
