US president Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle will visit the Pentagon memorial in remembrance of the 9/11 victims and the military hospital Walter Reed as Tuesday marks the 11th anniversary of the nation’s worst terrorist attacks, the White House said.
Obama and his wife are first expected to take part in a “moment of silence” alongside White House staff and will later travel to the Pentagon building, outside Washington DC, where one of the hijacked planes hit in the 2001 attacks,
Obama said he “hopes and knows that the US citizens will take a moment to reflect about what took place on September 11th 2001,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a press conference.
