Sniper shoots man in República de los Niños theme park, causes panic
The unidentified assailant was arrested after authorities spotted him standing on a nearby roof and shooting at the park goes, authorities explained.
“I’m hunting,” the man said after being detained. He was immediately moved to a police station, where he would undergo several psychological evaluations.
The incident took place on Sunday in the República de los Niños theme park, in La Plata, where hundreds of people where riding the park’s attractions. One of them is a small train that circles the park fitting over 50 people, most of them children.
Riding the train was 41-year-old Jorge Alegre, whose 5-year-old daughter was sitting on his knees.
Alegre said he suddenly felt an acute pain on his leg and realized he was bleeding. He immediately started screaming for help.
Passengers on the train then realized the train was being shot at.
As the train slowed down, park goes sought refuge in the nearby structures.
After the police was warned, the authorities found out where the firing was coming for and discovered the 20-year-old man, who was armed with a carbine and two bullet cases including 50 projectiles each.
