Belsunce case: Court rejects Carrascosa nullity petitions
Buenos Aires province Supreme Court rejected today two sentence nullity petitions requested by Carlos Carrascosa, a businessman convicted and sentenced to life for murdering his wife María Marta García Belsunce in 2002. Thus, the provincial judiciary confirmed Carrascosa's sentence.
The case shocked the Argentine society as several members of both high-profile families, were prosecuted and linked to the murder of Sociologis García Belsunce.
Carrascosa, who has been in prison since his conviction in 2009, has always claimed his innocence.
Likewise, mentioned that his sister-in-law Irene Hurtig and his wife’s brother-in-law Guillermo Bártoli were innocent, whilst stating that due to the “inefficiency” of public prosecutor Diego Molina Pico, it remained unknown as to who killed his wife.
In one of his last hearings, Carrascosa stated that “neither Irene, nor Guillermo, nor I killed María Marta."
