New rain alert issued, floods persist in Greater Buenos Aires

After a state of emergency was declared in fifteen districts of Greater Buenos Aires two days ago due to flooding, today a new weather warning was issued by forecasters for more heavy rains.

The National Weather Forecasting Service released a weather warning for the central, eastern and south-eastern area of Buenos Aires province for heavy rains, with conditions expected to improve by the early evening.

Forecasters said that a cold blast would affect the province and capital city over today with drizzle and heavy downpours in some areas.

The rains are expected to cease in the north-west and central western area of Buenos Aires.

The areas declared under a state of emergency include: Tordillo, General Pueyrredón, Guaminí, Tandil, Saavedra, Azul, Benito Juárez, General Alvear, González Chaves, Laprida, Las Flores, Necochea, Saladillo, San Cayetano, Tapalqué, Coronel Pringles and Villarino.
