Uruguay's Mujica praises brotherly relationship despite restrictions

In an interview with Montevideo newspaper La Republica, published today, Uruguayan President José “Pepe” Mujica said his country is the nation bearing the best relationship with Argentina despite of recent diplomatic cross fires regarding different matters including restrictions affecting tourism, pulp mills and other controversial issues.

“Uruguay is Argentina’s best relationship”, Mujica stated and added that the good liaisons are part of the neighboring countries government’s “good attitude towards each other.”

“Despite of eventual difficulties, we always find a way to sort it out”, the Uruguayan Head of State pointed out.

Mujica also confirmed he is in conversations with the Argentine government to expand monetary cooperation between the two nations and said he is “optimistic” regarding the talks over the Argentine restrictions to dollar purchases and abroad purchases restrictions that are affecting tourism in Uruguay.

“We expect more advantageous options to come out”, Mujica concluded.
