'Limits are put on salaries, but not on inflation,' Moyano

Secretary-general of the CGT umbrella labour union Hugo Moyano, criticised again the national government stating today “limits are placed on salaries” but that “inflation is not controlled.”

The trade union leader made the comments in a local radio interview and said: “It is not right that the worker is the only person that pays the consequences,” of the government’s decisions.

“Lady President, if you put a limit on wages, if you don’t approve wage hikes (a certain percentage), then why not put a limit on prices?” Moyano complained.

The statements are the most recent of many being made by the labour union leader regarding wages, and they come a week after the Government’s Wage Council announced the new minimum wage floor to be at AR$2,875.

Moyano further underlined that the wage negotiations be made “without ceiling,” for future salary talks at the Labour Ministry.

Furthermore, regarding the country's current economic situation, Moyano revealed: “We aren’t in 2001, but there are difficulties.”
