City gov't rejects CFK's call to join development of film industry hub

City Economic Development Minister Francisco Cabrera.

City Economic Development Minister Francisco Cabrera said he was “surprised” after President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s announcement of the creation of a film industry hub near Puerto Madero, and assured that “the City has been actively promoting the film industry for over a year.”

“It is surprising that they decided to move forward with a productive model that the City already has”, Cabrera said.

When asked about the President’s public invitation to the City Government to join the project, the City official replied: “We have nothing to do with it. We were not invited to be a part of it.”

Cabrera assured that the President’s announcement “lacked detail and made no sense, because she didn’t explain what kind of tax benefits it would provide or how such a hub would be built on Isla Demarchi in Puerto Madero.”
