Argentina hits back at US over import restrictions
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
The Argentine Foreign Ministry hit back at the United States amid various trade barrier complaints and allegations of illegality saying that it would report the country for violating the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) rules for stopping imports of Argentine meat and citrus fruits to the country.
Following the presentation of the report, a period of 60 days will be taken where the US will have to answer questions regarding trade barriers, and if by Argentina’s standards the answers do not add up, it will put together a panel of experts in order to analyze said ‘protectionist practices.’
