Heavy rain provokes 1700 evacuations in Buenos Aires province
Heavy rains were expected to continue throughout Saturday.
Some 1700 people were evacuated from their homes in Buenos Aires province this week, as a result of the heavy rain, the province emergency council said.
Luciano Timerman, head of the organization confirmed that approximately 1325 people were evacuated in the Greater Buenos Aires areas of Arrecifes, La Matanza, San Pedro and Pilar.
A weather alert was announced early today for more heavy rains throughout the night in the central and southeastern parts of the province.
Forecasters said that the weather is expected to improve tomorrow.
Furthermore, in addition to the rains, power cuts were also reported in the province and in some parts of Buenos Aires City.
