This week at the movies
US films are abuzz this week! If you were upset Hollywood wasn’t churning out enough cheese, you will be pleased to hear that there’s a new musical out that reaches eternal levels of Stilton-like stench that even Jerry would be afraid to go near. Chris D'Arienzo’s hit Broadway musical ‘Rock of Ages’ has arrived to the big screen.
Tom Cruise as rock star Stacee Jaxx alongside a star-studded cast, including the likes of Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Mary J. Blige all put to the music of rock bands like Journey and De Ceppard this 80s flashback is either the one to watch, or precisely the opposite whether you’ve seen the original or not. You decide.
Aside from the music side of things, if you had Arnie abstinence, fear not. He is back with a vengeance in the action-thriller ‘The Expendables 2’ starring alongside a mixed bag of old-school and new school hunks including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis and Jet Li to name a few. Muscles and tattoos are abound.
Away from Hollywood comes the Argentine comedy ‘Dos más Dos’ starring Alfredo Casero and Julieta Díaz and ‘The Mill and the Cross’ from Sweden and Poland.
