Argentina end frustrating participation with a loss

Argentina lost 3-1 to New Zealand men's hockey team in the playoff for ninth position today.

Thus, Argentina have ended their disappointing Olympic campaign in the tenth place of 12 teams with one win, one draw, and four losses.

The men's "Black Sticks" virtually put the game to bed with three first half goals thanks to Stephen Jenness, Nick Wilson and a penalty corner strike from Richard Petherick, while Argentina's Pedro Ibarra scored at a penalty corner in the second half.

The result couldn't mask what has been a below average tournament for both sides, mostly for the seventh-ranked Kiwis.
