Volleyball: Brazil bury Argentina's hopes

Argentina lost 3-0 (25-19, 25-17 y 25-20) to South American arch rivals Brazil in a Men’s volleyball quarterfinals match, thus leaving the competition.

In addition USA faces Italy, Bulgaria plays Germany, and Poland faces Russia.

Thus, the young team led by Coach Javier Webber will face one of the best teams in the world as Brazilians have dominated the international scene for the past decade. Anyway, clinching a ticket for the semi-finals is not utopian since Brazil seem to be going through a generational transition, while Argentina is on his way up after finding a generation of skilful players.

The top four teams in each pool, based on a point system, advanced to play in the quarterfinals. The top finishers in each pool face the fourth-place finishers in the opposite pool, while the other matches were determined by drawing lots.
