'Our administration is noted for acknowledging minorities,’ CFK
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner vindicated minority rights and accused farmers of “not investing enough money in irrigation systems” to fight drought, forcing the Government to grant them financial aid that could be used to fight poverty.
“Why not investing in irrigation systems when you have money so instead of having to use money to help farmers when drought hits, we use it on the poor?” she asked.
The Head of State made these statements as she inaugurated a new bilingual institution in Pampa del Indio, Chaco, via video conference.
“Some people were born poor and they are still poor. And it’s them who must be helped the most with Government resources,” she added.
“As the great Atahualpa Yupanqui said, sorrows are ours and the cows belong to others,” she said.
She assured that her administration “was noted for an acknowledgment of minorities.”
“Hadn’t I done this, the situation would be very bad,” the President stated.
