Bonfatti says they do not even have money to pay salaries

Santa Fe Governor Antonio Bonfatti.

Santa Fe's Governor Antonio Bonfatti assured that "there's no money" in the province and warned that "we are going to have problems to pay the salaries" of the public sector's workers.

"There's no money. We'll have to find the money in order to pay the salaries," the head of the province stated.

Meanwhile, Buenos Aires province Economy Minister Silvana Batakis said that by the end of this year or the beginning of 2013, Governor Daniel Scioli will have to apply a hike in gated communities' taxes.

Last month, in the midst of the crossfire with the National Government, Argentina's main province reported severe economic problems to pay salaries and the midyear bonus to its 550,000 public workers.

In Santa Fe, Bonfatti claimed the local Legislature to pass the tax reform sponsored by the Executive power. If it is not approved, then "we are going to have trouble to pay the salaries too," he warned.
