Transport fare hikes for SUBE non-users into effect today
A massive transport fare hike will take effect as of today for commuters who don’t have/use the universal Electronic Ticket Single System, also known as SUBE top-up card in Spanish. Meanwhile, SUBE users will continue to pay the current fare values in buses and trains.
Thus, commuters in the metropolitan area that do not have either the SUBE or Monedero top-up cards starting today will pay bus rates ranging from 2 pesos to 4 pesos from the fifth, while in the case of trains, tickets will cost 1.50 for the initial fee and up to 5 pesos for the longest trips.
Meanwhile, commuters of both services who pay with the SUBE card will continue to pay the government’s subsidized rates.
