Rowing: Not a good day for Argentina

Argentines Miguel Mayol and Mario Cejas finished second in the Men's Lightweight Double Sculls Semifinals C with a time of 7:11.46 trailing Australia’s team whose rowers Roderick Chisholm and Thomas Gibson set a winning time of 7:06.24.

Likewise, Santiago Fernández couldn’t repeat his great performance from yesterday’s quarterfinals and finished fourth in today’s Men's Single Sculls semifinals B with a time of 7:29.68. The Argentine rower qualified for the Final B in which he could obtain an Olympic diploma by finishing either first or second.

Meanwhile, María Laura Abalo and Gabriela Best finished third in the Women's Pair Final B with a time 8:03.53 and way behind the winners Yage Zhang and Yulan Gao of China with a time of 7:55.18. Thus, the Argentina pair missed the chance to at least obtain an Olympic diploma.
