WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and Spanish ex Judge Baltasar Garzón.

Spanish ex judge Baltasar Garzón will head the defence of the founder of WikiLeaks, Australian Julian Assange, who has taken refugee at Ecuador's Embassy in London, according to Spain's newspaper "El País."

The decision was agreed after Garzón met with Assange at the Ecuadorian Embasssy in London, where he remains until President Rafael Correa analyzed his asylum request.

The encounter was held in order to define a "strong judicial strategy to defend WikiLeaks and its founder as well," the organization stated.

Besides, according to WikiLeaks, the Judge showed his concern over "the severe lack of guarantees" against Assange.

Sweden has called England for the extradition of Assange over sex crime accusations.
